UM Energy Committee
The UM Energy Committee includes and brings together expertise from different disciplines throughout campus to think broadly and holistically about energy on campus. In the Energy committee meetings, professionals are afforded the opportunity to collaborate with other professional perspectives around the topic of campus energy in a way that does not frequently occur outside of these meetings, including the following areas of expertise:
- Design and Architecture
- Energy and Engineering
- Sustainability
- Academic and Academic Administration–Provost’s Office and Business School Dean’s Office and Engineering School Dean’s Office and Faculty
- Athletics Facilities
- Housing Facilities
The committee convenes approximately three times per semester around topical agendas to explore potential opportunities for the campus, including:
- Infrastructure and Current Energy Investments,
- New Construction,
- Cogeneration, and
- Renewable Energy.
The committee compiles an annual report and meets with university administrators to make recommendations for increasing energy productivity and decreasing the carbon footprint of the university.
